Over-the-Range Microwave Oven

Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Power drill with bits
  • Level
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Tape measure
  • Stud finder
  • Pencil for marking

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Prepare Installation Area: Ensure proper clearance above cooktop (minimum 30 inches) and verify cabinet structure can support microwave weight.
  2. Locate Wall Studs: Use stud finder to locate and mark wall studs for secure mounting.
  3. Install Mounting Plate: Secure mounting plate to wall studs using provided hardware.
  4. Prepare Electrical Connection: Ensure dedicated 120V, 60Hz, 15-20 amp circuit is available. Microwave must be properly grounded.
  5. Install Ventilation: Connect ductwork for external ventilation (recommended) or set up recirculating ventilation with charcoal filter.
  6. Mount Microwave: With assistance, lift microwave onto mounting plate and secure with mounting bolts.
  7. Final Connections: Connect power cord, install grease filters, and ensure all connections are secure.
  8. Test Operation: Test all functions including microwave cooking, ventilation fan, and lighting.
Warning: Installation requires two people. All electrical connections must comply with local codes. Professional installation recommended for proper ventilation setup.
